OIL TOYBOXES
2006 - Steel, latex graphics, video
I created 2 steel boxes that are similar in design to toyboxes used to store childrens' toys. On the front of each box I placed latex icons related to oil production.
One toybox has a video that plays inside of a 5 inch hole that viewers
can see from viewing the top of the box. The video is an image of
of oil appearing and disappearing in front of the Drake Well, the first commercial oil well drilled in 1959 in Titusville, PA. I captured the video on-site in Titusville in Winter, 2006. These boxes have been shown with the Stretchit Installation.
